Happy Friday, friends! Secondhand Spotlight is BACK with the first installment of 2021! And what better way to kick off this series in a new year with someone SO many of you nominated to do this: Montana of Haus of Hart! Montana is such a light in this community, always giving her all with creative drops and fun live sales! A good time all around. So let's get to know her a little bit more!

1. Tell us a little about yourself!

Well hello! I’m Montana, I’m 30 living in the Midwest (Indiana currently) but dying to move a bit more to the left.. my dream state to live in to be precise is Utah! I grew up about an hour and some odd minutes north of where I am now in a teeny little town in Ohio. I say teeny and I mean I graduated with 32 people and we only have one stoplight! I didn’t mind it though, I spent a lot of my time growing up in the library and hanging out with my grandma. She really gave me her love for mystery and thriller novels, which are still my favorite to this day. I have one younger brother and my parents have been married for 30ish years, pretty normal American childhood.. fast forward a bit (since I’m talking about photography later I’ll just skip that part for now) I met my husband, Ryan, on tinder.. yes, tinder. And legit I’ve been obsessed with him since first speaking! He really is the best thing and I’m insanely thankful for him and also for my pup, Jack! Also just wanna shout-out his fam as well because they’re fantastic people, v lucky! Also he proposed in Paris, so I have to show off a couple of those photos because he’s an absolute dream!

We have a crazy love for traveling and hiking! Fav place we’ve gone so far has been Zion National Park, it’s beautiful there! My favorite place though is sky pond in Rocky Mountain National Park! Our dream is to live in a sprinter and travel all over, one day!

2. Many of us know that you're also a photographer which is amazing! Would love to know more about your love for photography.

Aw yah! I’ve been a professional photographer for 11 years now! Honestly my love for photography came from Pokémon snap, but really bloomed into a full time gig when I was 18! I opened my own studio the spring before I turned 19 and truly haven’t looked back, or had a boss other than myself! Here are a few favie pics I’ve taken, some of individuals and some of some pretty nature!

3. Aside from thrifting and photography, what are some other things that you're passionate about or love to do in your spare time?

Heh, I’m a huge nerdy girl! I love legos (I have a collection of the Harry Potter series) and I’m most recently hooked on Animal Crossing (hit me up if you want my friend code!!) I also am crazy about traveling and hiking.. our dream is to do van life and travel the world!

4. 2021 just began, so I have to ask - what are your resolutions and goals for the year? (business or personal!)

I’m actually taking this year slow, kinda.. I never really do anything slow but maybe more relaxed is a good term! I’ve really been on the go with photography since I started and this is the first summer really where I kinda ~tapped~ the breaks and didn’t take on as much for myself. I really want to focus more on my thrifting page and (hopefully) travel this year!

1. If a movie were being made about your life, who would you want to play you?

My fav fav actress is Toni Colette! But I think to play me def Zoey Deschanel (she’s fun and weird and quirky).

2. If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life, what would it be?

Potatoes, prepared any way.. they’re all good.

3. What's the next place on your travel bucket list and why?

Oh man. This one is tough for me because I legit want to go everywhere, but as of now I really want to go to Florida to see my sis - in - law. I miss her SO MUCH!!

ABOUT HAUS OF HART

1. How did you get started with reselling? Where did your love for thrifting come from?

I started reselling on Poshmark and a Facebook group about three years ago, I have always had a love for shopping and just expression through clothing! When I was in my early-ish teens my aunt would always take me shopping with her so that’s where it kinda started.. then when I was 16 I had to buy my own school clothes and I was like cheap cheap so I just started going to Goodwill and the obsession has just grown from there!!

2. Is there a story behind the name Haus of Hart?

Welp, my last name is Hart so it’s very fun making branding based on that since it’s basically the cutest last name ever! Hehe

3. What has been your proudest moment since having this lil business? Most difficult moment?

Proudest moment, hmmm ohh okay so Ryan and I were hanging at the house and someone was live and I was like omg Ryan watch and so I got on the live and said hi and the girl like flipped out OMG MONTANA IS ON MY LIVE and like fangirled about me and I was like omg! Ryan thought it was so cool and so I was proud of my lil ole self :) and most difficult is dealing with dishonest clients (mainly one).

4. If you could go back and give yourself one piece of advice when you first started, what would it be?

Just have fun mostly, sometimes I really overthink about my page and I’d like it to be way more light and just fun and chill!

5. Montana Mondays are definitely a community fav - was it nerve wracking to start going live? Do you ever get nervous doing them anymore?

Aww, I love my Mondays now! It did make me pretty nervous at first, mainly just getting use to like the countdown and bids and stuff. People can get pretty heated on there so that’s intimidating but it’s mostly so fun and I love my girls!

6. Which section in the thrift store is your FAV / do you go to first?

My fav section changes with the seasons I feel.. right now it’s men’s sweaters, love me a good grampy vibe! And I always go to shoes first so they can lay at the bottom of the cart and not be steppin' on the clothes!

7. What has been your favorite thrift find EVER?

Authentic Vintage 80’s Gucci!

8. What items are you currently on the hunt for to add to your own closet?

Free People anything, but I’m really have a growing collection of their hoodies!

9. What do you love most about running Haus of Hart?

The people, community of it all, & meeting my best friend, Taylea.
